Wanderers - Photographs from upland fells of Northern Lapland by Jorma Luhta

Wanderers is the latest milestone in the work of multiple award-winning photographer Jorma Luhta, who has been one of the Finland’s leading nature photographer since the 1960’s. Exhibition describes the arctic birds and mammals being threatened by changes in their living environments in Scandinavia. It is based on the photographs presented in Wanderers in the North –book which was published in autumn 2014. The visitor becomes acquainted with barren upland fells of Northern Lapland and their inhabitants in the exhibition.

“I wanted to go back to the roots with my photographing, wander on the fells with rucksack and have the camera ready in the hand. Nature photographer, moving on the fells is like an ancient explorer, who becomes one with the migration of lemmings, arctic foxes and snowy owls, “ tells Luhta about the background of the Wanderers -photos.

Jorma Luhta (born in 1951), is famous nature photographer and author both nationally and internationally. The books Metsola (year 2001) and Starry Nights (year 2009) have been rewarded as Nature Books of the Year by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Jorma Luhta combines photographs with nature observer’s calm considerations.
