International Tourist Guide Day on 21 February

Feb 08, 2012 01:00 PM

To celebrate the International Tourist Guide Day, the visitors with a ticket to the Sámi Museum and Nature Centre Siida can visit our exhibitions together with professional guides on Tuesday, 21 February.

The 21st of February is the International Tourist Guide Day. On the day, tourist guides in Finland and around the world arrange different kinds of events and make the work of tourist guides better known in their own areas. Pohjois-Lapin Oppaat ry, the northernmost guide association in Finland, arranges a special event in Inari by offering Siida’s visitors the opportunity of looking at the exhibitions together with professional guides.

Siida’s exhibitions tell about Sámi history and culture and natural conditions in the northernmost Lapland. With the help of a local guide who is acquainted with the exhibitions, it is possible to enhance the information content of the exhibitions. Normally, a guided tour needs to be ordered, but, on 21 February, the visitors who buy a ticket to Siida can join a guided tour for free. The tours start at Siida’s lobby at 10:30, 13:00 and 15:30. The tour will be conducted in Finnish and English, and it will last for about an hour. More information is available at Siida’s Customer Service.
