Siida changes to winter opening hours

Siida will change to winter opening hours on September 20, 2010. During the winter season, Siida is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Mondays Siida is closed.

The Sámi Museum and Nature Centre Siida is at present open every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. We will change to our winter opening hours on Monday, 20 September. On the same day, the Open-Air Museum will close for the winter. Restaurant Sarrit will serve customers during the opening hours of Siida and on demand. Siida is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The winter opening hours are valid until May 31. In addition, the Skolt Sámi Heritage House in Sevettijärvi will close its doors on September 15.

The schedule for Siida’s Northern Lights Show will also change as the winter season begins. From September 21, the show which is included in the ticket to Siida will take place at noon and 3 p.m. on the days when Siida is open. The Northern Lights Show and the Lake Inari Show will also be available at other times by prior arrangement.

Siida´s transportations on Wednesday from Siida to Ivalo and Saariselkä will continue during the winter. Every Wednesday, there is return transportation from Siida to Ivalo and Saariselkä. Visitors can come to Siida by a regular bus and return by a charter bus. Customers should book for the return transportation by 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the receptions of hotels, at Saariselkä Central Booking Agency (Saariselän Keskusvaraamo), or at Kiehinen or Siida.
