This year, the Nordic Travel Fair Matka 2011 in Helsinki also presented an Inari – Aanaar stand, which was run by companies and other actors from the village of Inari and the neighboring villages. At the fair, the stand drew a great number of visitors; people were very interested in the unique nature and rich Sámi culture of Inari.

The main exhibitors of the Inari – Anaar stand were Siida – Sámi Museum and Nature Centre, Inari Event Lapland, Hotel Korpikartano, Wilderness Hotel Nellim, Lake and Snow Inari, Holiday Village Inari, Inari Reindeer Farm, Youth and Holiday Centre Vasatokka and the Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos. The stand focused on the nature and the Sámi culture of Northern Lapland. The audience was introduced to culture for example with the help of craft demonstrations and yoiking performances. In addition, Inarin Luonnonporo provided visitors with free samples of their reindeer meat products. Visitors could also get a taste of the versatile nature of Inari through beautiful photographs.

There was a lottery at the stand, the winner of which got accommodation for two nights in Inari with activities included. This prize was won by Pirjo Airo from Lahti. Additional prizes of the lottery included other services and products provided by the exhibitors. The winners of the lottery will be notified personally.

The fair Matkamessut is the largest fair in the Nordic countries focusing on leisure travelling. Matka 2011 drew altogether 83,279 visitors to the Helsinki Fair Centre between January 20th and January 23rd. There were almost 1200 exhibitors from over 70 countries at the fair. The exhibitors of the Inari – Aanaar stand thank all those who visited the stand, as well as all the partners of the project.
