Services for hikers and wilderness trekkers
The customer service point of Metsähallitus is an excellent starting point for local nature trips, fishing excursions, and longer wilderness hikes. Within an hour’s drive from Inari are some of Finland’s finest hiking destinations, including Lemmenjoki National Park, Kevo Nature Reserve, and the vast wilderness areas of Hammastunturi, Vätsäri, Muotkatunturi, Kaldoaivi, and Paistunturi.
The trails in the Inari Hiking Area, located around Lake Inari and the village of Inari, lead to some of the most beautiful landscapes for day trips. For experienced water hikers, Lake Inari offers numerous destinations. Lake Inari, the Juutua River, the Näätämö River, and numerous mountain lakes in the wilderness areas are dream destinations for anglers.

Fishing and hunting matters can be conveniently handled online at Eräluvat.fi or through the Eräluvat service number 020 69 2424, which is open on weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm. Through the service number, you can obtain free fishing permits for locals, river fishing permits for residents, and fishing permits for the Skolt Sámi area, as well as information on related questions.
