Museum of the Year 2024 Celebration at Siida!
Sámi Museum Siida was chosen as the European Museum of the Year 2024 at the beginning of May at the European Museum Forum’s EMYA conference in Portugal.
After this, the Sámi Museum and Nature Centre Siida was also chosen as the Museum of the Year 2024 by the Finnish Museums Association and ICOM Finland!
We thank the entire Sámi community, and everyone involved in the preparation of the exhibition – this achievement is due to our good cooperation!
We want to celebrate this achievement together on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Emeritus Professor Veli-Pekka Lehtola, Curator Eija Ojanlatva, Curator Anni Guttorm, Curatorial Assistant Marjo-Riitta Rantamäki, and Community Work Coordinator Pia Nikula. The discussion will be moderated by Marketing Coordinator Taija Aikio.
11:45 AM Closing remarks and presentation of the day’s other program

The seminar will be held in Siida’s Auditorium. It will also be possible to follow the seminar on Siida’s YouTube channel.
1 PM – 3 PM Cake and coffee in Restaurant Sarrit (for the first 150 attendees)
1 PM – 4 PM Siida’s staff will be available in the exhibitions and the open-air museum at Mirhamintupa. Come and ask the experts about archaeology, artifacts, technology, and content.
